NAARPI a leading global provider of training solutions to the Property Preservation and Inspection Industry announces that their MPPS course achieved Accreditation following a rigorous assessment process examining all aspects of program administration, delivery and assessment.<\/p>\n

\u201cBasically this industry is unregulated; anyone with a notion, camera, lawn mower and little more can claim to be a Property Preservation\/Inspection business\u201d, said John Allen, one of the contributors to the course.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cWe heard the concerns of others within the industry regarding the lack of minimum standards, training and regulations. As we all know Minimum Standards form the fundamental building blocks for developing training and quality control by establishing consistent protocols that can be universally understood and adopted\u201d John concluded.<\/em><\/p>\n

As a professional home inspector, insurance adjuster and ISO auditor John has written several books on the subject matter to include the Home Check Series (a 3 book series), The Illustrated Guide to Property Preservation and Inspecting and The Marketing Guide to Success.\u00a0\u00a0He has also developed and written courses on the subject of Rental\/Investment property inspecting which were approved for continued education and certification in the state of Texas by TAR and Metrotex. He presently is chairman of NAARPI and is the owner of BIIG Inspections a Texas based inspection and property preservation company.<\/p>\n

The MPPS course is the most comprehensive property preservation and inspection course available with over 38,000 words on 135 pages it provides instructional information supported by photos and illustrations. In the last couple of years we have seen a steady decline in services being performed by so called property preservation specialist and this decline can be directly attributed to the flood gates being opened by the multi-layer Order Mills allowing untrained, unqualified workers to flood the industry.<\/p>\n

It was not difficult to identify the problems however, providing a real solution has been met with great resistance and opposition from many within the industry.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It was obvious this professional industry was lacking a Code of Ethics, Minimum Standards and an Accredited Certification Process needed to raise and maintain the standards and stop what many perceived to be unethical practices by some within the industry.<\/p>\n

All other segments of the real estate industry the industry we are a part of have standards, license requirements, certifications, and designation, such as Real Estate Agents, Brokers, Appraisers and Home Inspectors.\u00a0\u00a0As well they all have Minimum Standards and a Code of Ethics they must abide by\u2026I ask you are we less professional then these segments of the industry?<\/p>\n

Adopting a National Minimum Standard will provide clear guidelines that would enable each property preservation specialist, inspector or contractor to complete any task with established benchmarks including how to properly document their work. It goes without saying that all parties will benefit with clear and definitive standards, thus establishing checks and balances.\u00a0\u00a0Imagine how helpful that would be should there be a dispute.<\/p>\n
