Little Sis….How Fickle is Life???

The smell of the Sumatra Mandheling and Blueberry pancakes permeated the air as I sat watching the sun break the horizon. The thought of Bucky and Charlie came to mind, I chuckled remembering how Charlie would come sit in my lap and eat blueberry pancakes with me on our Sunday morning ritual. The sun was warm on my face and felt soothing after the past weeks of frigid temperatures that froze so many pipes and strained the power grids across the Midwest. As I sat enjoying the quiet the jingle-jangle of the phone broke the stillness and quickly brought me back to my senses.
Hello….
Hi
Let me guess, you’re at the front door??/
Yeah
Come on in…
I grabbed Little Sis a cup of coffee and handed it to her. smiling she sat.
Blueberry pancakes??? I asked
Sure. She replied quietly.
So what have you discovered on our Myanmar gal???
Her face changed and suddenly she looked lost.
What’s going on ??? I asked
Well you know…she hesitated…umm I…well I started to research her some and I’m still looking into the money angle and how it might tie into our election issues…but…she hesitated again with a puzzled look on her face.
Oh my I said. What has you so troubled young lady???
She looked up, her eyes held a touch of sadness. Well, this morning, I realized that everything is about to change. No matter how I vote, no matter what I say, lives are never going to be the same.
So true I responded, go on…
I have been confused by the hostility of family and friends. I look at people I have known all my life so hate-filled that they agree with opinions they would never express as their own. I think that I may well have entered the Twilight Zone.
I think many of us feel that way Little Sis, I know I certainly do at times.
You can’t justify this insanity. Little Sis continued, We have become a nation that has lost its collective mind. We see other countries going Socialist and collapsing, but it seems like a great plan to us.
The ding-a-lings sure have sold a bill of goods to the uneducated huh?? I said.
It’s not just that, Little Sis said…
What do you mean I asked??
I’m not real sure how we got here. However, somehow it’s un-American for the census to count how many Americans are in America. People who say there is no such thing as gender are demanding a female President. Universities that advocate equality, discriminate against Asian-Americans in favor of African-Americans. Some people are held responsible for things that happened before they were born, and other people are not held responsible for what they are doing right now. Criminals are caught-and-released to hurt more people, but stopping them is bad because it’s a violation of THEIR rights.
I started to interject but thought better of, after all Little Sis was on a roll…
Furthermore, she continued…people who have never owned slaves should pay slavery reparations to people who have never been slaves. After legislating gender, if a dude pretends to be a woman, you are required to pretend with him. People who have never been to college should pay the debts of college students who are confused about which bathroom to use and took out huge loans for their useless liberal arts degrees.
I nodded….And then there is this mess she continued
Immigrants with tuberculosis and polio are welcome, but you’d better be able to prove your dog is vaccinated. Irish doctors and German engineers who want to immigrate to the US must go through a rigorous vetting process, but any illiterate gang-bangers who jump the southern fence are welcomed. We’re told $5 billion for border security is too expensive, but $1.5 trillion for “free” health care is not.
If you cheat to get into college you go to prison, but if you cheat to get into the country you go to college for free. And to top it off, pointing out all this hypocrisy somehow makes us “racists”!
Well I can see the dichotomy I said
So you see, she looked at me with her eyes pleading for some sort of rationale to the madness…
Nothing makes sense anymore, Little Sis went on… no values, no morals, no civility and people are dying of a Chinese virus, but it is racist to refer to it as Chinese even though it began in China. We are clearly living in an upside-down world where right is wrong and wrong is right, where moral is immoral and immoral is moral, where good is evil and evil is good, where killing murderers is wrong, but killing innocent babies is right.
I sipped my coffee as she paused then suddenly she asked,
Do you really think promoting this Article V of our Constitution is going wake up America. The great unsinkable ship Titanic America has hit an iceberg, our country is taking on water and sinking fast. You know, sometimes I feel like I’m climbing Everest backwards.
I looked at Little Sis for a long moment. I know what you mean I said. But How do we face our children if we don’t try???
Yeah you’re right. Then she smiled, how about some of those pancakes now???
We ate in silence then suddenly she said, Guess I better go find out about Aung huh???
There is something there I said. I just can’t put my finger on it.
Lord help us! Little Sis exclaimed. How fickle is life? she asked…
Shrugging my shoulders, with a nod of my head I raised an eyebrow, without saying a word I picked up the dishes and took them to the sink, over my shoulder I asked, More Coffee???
Nothing, I turned around…just like her brother I mumbled to my self pouring another cup of coffee…The sun felt good on my face as I thought about the yard work that was waiting to be done…

This article came to me in a round about way. It was originally posted in social media by Brad and sent to me via Daniel. I have taken liberty with the writing and have added my own touches to personalize the Little Sis character. Photographs are photographs of photographs taken and cropped by myself and one courtesy Mortgage Horror.

Until Next Time

Happy gardening.
